Upscale fish and steak restaurant in downtown Vancouver. Happy hour menu 3 - 5 pm. Thoughtful service. I had crab and corn fritters, a half dozen oysters and a glass of the house red. The fritters were crunchy on the outside and soft inside, served with a mildly spicy dipping sauce. Oysters fresh and delicious. A great choice for an Upscale but not overblown steakhouse.

Love the experience here. Came here to celebrate a personal milestone. We ordered two appetizers and an entree each for the two of us. The lobster infused oil was amazing! The bread was a bit too dense for me but the flavour of the lobster oil was simply divine. This is a great place for with different tastes. Their seafood is, needless to say, top notch. But their steaks are also very delicious. We had a great time, and will come back for sure. The live piano was the cherry on top of the evening!

What a beautiful experience! This is one of the only restaurants in Vancouver, where I feel like I am in New York! The ambience, the food and the service was excellent and it truly was a unique experience for this city. I was craving the steak, though the fish and chips that my partner got were really good as well. I don’t think you can go wrong with whatever you choose.

Joe Fortes is worth checking out. While recently visiting Vancouver, we had the opportunity to eat there. With the beautiful decor, live piano music, and great service, there are few places better. We had a minor issue with our meal which was resolved promptly by a manager who offered a sincere apology and a complimentary dessert. We chose the creme brulee which turned out to be the best creme brulee we ever had - the perfect levels of creamy and sweet. Everything was so wonderful, we returned just 3 days later and ordered all the same dishes. We would definitely recommend the filet mignon or the New York striploin as both are very tender and juicy. The lobster oil / balsamic vinegar mix that is served with the bread is to die for. Great job from both Adam and Boyd who served us.

Joe Fortes is a sophisticated New American culinary delight that boasts a rich history and even richer flavors. The fish and chips were crisp, the steak tender, the crab cakes meaty, and the oysters fresh. The carrot cake, which our wonderful server noted as her favorite, was extraordinary and just the perfect sweetness. I took my two little brothers to Vancouver for a spontaneous getaway and they marked this fantastic dining experience as the highlight of our trip. What elevated our time here was certainly the superb hospitality of their enthusiastic and attentive crew. Not to mention the soulful tunes of the pianist playing at the staircase landing.

The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, and the quality of the food was truly impressive. One thing that really stood out was the bread served at the beginning—unlike many other places that only offer butter, they served it with their own unique lobster oil-based sauce. It was so different and incredibly delicious. You can really tell they pay attention to the details. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommend!

They have happy hour from 3-5pm. The oysters were super fresh and tasty at just 1.75 each. The lobster and shrimp rolls were also delicious and worth trying. Unfortunately, the cocktail shrimp wasn’t as fresh — the texture was a bit off, which was a letdown. Service was great though — staff were attentive and kept our table tidy throughout. Only downside is the tables are quite close together, and it got pretty noisy during happy hour.
